Perejaume (SANT POL DE MAR, 1957) Halfway between literary and visual practices, Perejaume uses painting, photography, sculpture, video, stage design and literature in his creations, all with his own, highly personal language. In them the most ordinary relations take on new, totally unthinkable meanings. Word and image, tradition and vanguard, are all present in the work he has produced, from the first exhibition in 1977 to the Cercle de Sant Lluc in his Anthology Obreda. His own particular redefinition of landscape takes him through a cartography full of pieces, fragments of other pictures, brushstrokes and most of all, objects put back in new spaces, where a chain of new meanings and shapes is generated. In the Temporada Alta poster, Perejaume goes back into showbusiness: it has been a constant reference in all his work, as since the beginning (just remember his participation in the Teatre Municipal de Girona in 1977 or the performances in the Gran Teatre del Liceu). For the occasion, an armchair cut out of a furniture magazine and the artist’s material and impressive brushwork invites the viewer to sit down and enjoy the theatre, and at the same time, presents the viewer as part of the same show. |
